Grab The Modeling Clay!!

As promised this is really the first post that goes into detail on how I've created the language for the Da'hai'th. As the title states, it was time to grab the modelling clay. The Da'hai'th are draconic as mentioned before and as such don't quite have normal fingers. Their concept art exists in my projects tab of the portfolio but I'll link it here as well for quick reference. This race has more dragon like fingers, longer claws that stick out, while they still have a 'thumb' the three main fingers they have are kind of what I figured their initial writings would have been done with, instead of some tool like humans use.

With that in mind I went and got a bit of modeling clay to make two claws, well, it started out as three but as I started writing with all three it made more sense that the first and middle finger would be what they used to write with. Below is an image of one of the 'claws' I made for this purpose.

The process overall was fairly simple short of modeling the claws and baking them. Now was time to cut into something and I immediately went for the tin foil. Stronger than paper so it wouldn't rip but easy to cut into, it was perfect to leave a claw indent into and see just how their language would look.

I wanted to show just one more image of the progress and thus above we have an image of what later has become the letters D and i. Also the promised concept image of the race.
